Dialogue with «Sign V»
Søndag, 27. januar 2019 - 14:00
Peter Shepard Skærved works in front of Jan Groth's "Tegn V" in Kunsthall Svalbard

In collaboration with The Northern Lights Festival, we present a unique concert with the internationally renowned violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved. He invites you to a musical dialogue with Jan Groth's tapestry Sign V.

Skærved has been in close collaboration with Jan Groth for years. The two friends have exchanged sketches, music texts and ideas, and have also worked together on several occasions, like at Bergen International Festival in 2017. Skærved is both a violinist, artist and lecturer, and invites us all to a dialogue between visual arts, philosophy and music. Prepare to be surprised, moved and challenged.

Skærved has worked on interdisciplinary art projects with international monoliths like The Metropolitan Museum in New York, Tate Britain in London and Library of Congress in Washington DC. Jan Groth is a grand old man of Norwegian art, known for his elegant and simple drawings and tapestries. Skærved performed at Kunsthall Svalbard in Longyearbyen when Sign V was exhibited there. You can read more about when violin met tapestry here.

The event is free and open to all, but there's not unlimited room. Tickets will be available from 13.00, first come, first served.
