The John Savio Award will be presented for the second time in 2017 and carries a cash prize of 150,000 Norwegian crowns.

The Award was created by The Relief Fund for Visual Artists (BHK) and is presented in collaboration with The Sámi Artists Union and Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum. The prize is awarded to an artist with Sámi background and identity who has a strong presence in the visual arts scene in Norway. It is unimportant what nationality, residency or organizational affiliation the artist has, however, the artist’s work should primarily be based in Norway.

See the rules for the award.

The jury consists of the following members, artists Lena Stenberg and Joar Nango, in addition to Charis Gullickson, curator at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum.

Anyone can submit candidates and the deadline is March 31. Please send candidate proposals to: johnsavioprisen2017@kunstfond.no
