From the past century until present day, artists have drawn inspiration from historical narratives from Sámi culture. The exhibition highlights works by contemporary artists, and it is categorized into three main themes: History, Mythic Dimension and Religion, and Identity Landscape. Through the use of different media, the artists reflect on Sámi history and culture, including mythology and actual historical events, such as the Kautokeino Rebellion, the burning and evacuation of Finnmark after WWII, and the Alta Controversy.

Summer of 2014, the exhibition will be shown at Scandinavia House in New York City, as a collaborative project with Tromsø Museum. The exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution.
