«Drawing Out»  is an exhibition produced by Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum that shows works from the museum's collection. The exhibition has previously been in Hammerfest, Honningsvåg, Kirkenes and has now found its way to Tegneforbundet in Oslo.

«Drawing Out» presents a wide range of artists and includes sketches, finished works and drawings that extend into space. The exhibition focuses on drawing as a form of expression and provides an insight into how differently artists utilise the medium - both in the traditional sense with a focus on craft-based practice, but also in the experimental sense. Here, the drawings take three-dimensional forms, and include drawings without rules.

The exhibition shows how a curator can think about exhibitions - how it can convey the thought or idea that drawing can really be everything.

Throughout the 2000s, drawing has strengthened its position. Internationally major biennials affirmed drawing as an independent expression, both in its purest form and in an expanded field. For example, Norways's Tegnerforbundet's Drawing Triennial 2023 is entitled "All that Lies Between" and will examine the relationship between the written and the drawn, the said and the unsaid, and everything that lies between. "All that Lies Between" also highlights a shared impetus with «Drawing Out»  to pay tribute to drawing and the freedom that drawing has always had but has only recently been recognised and applauded.

The following artists are represented:
Marsil Andjelov Al-Mahamid, Anna-Eva Bergman, Bjørn Carlsen, Arnold Dahlslett, Arne Ekeland, Sissel Fredriksen, Jan Groth, Inger Johanne Grytting, Johanne Marie Hansen-Krone, Jean Heiberg, Mogens Henckel, Sigfrid Ingebjørg Hernes, Iver Jåks, Ragnhild Keyser, Rolf Nesch, Tone Lyngstad Nyaas, Silje Figenschou Thoresen, Kjell Varvin and Beth Wyller.

«Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum's collection numbers over two thousand and it is our wish that as many people as possible can experience the original works in the collection. We greatly appreciate the public in Oslo and the surrounding area will have a personal encounter with many exciting works,» says curator Lise Dahl at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum.
